Borrowing its name from the Japanese art of arranging nature, IKEBANA reimagines the apartment building as an inhabited landscape.
In Ahmedabad, where red earth and deep shadows have long shaped an architectural language, a robust terracotta envelope is paired with a second skin of planters that nurture over four hundred trees. The façade becomes seasonal, breathing, growing and changing less a building than a vertical garden rooted in the city.
Our first venture into saleable housing in India was also an opportunity to question what an apartment could be. Deep terraces extend every home into the open air, inviting breeze, shade and everyday occupation of the threshold between inside and outside. Flexible plans allow each family to shape its own way of living, while generous planting restores a measure of privacy, calm and biodiversity to urban life.
IKEBANA is quiet luxury, not through excess, but through permanence. Crafted in terracotta, concrete and living green, it is conceived to weather gracefully, age with dignity, and become richer with every passing season.
