Architecture is about reshaping our environment. If you really want to understand this profession and make a meaningful transformation, the mind has to work from micro to macro scales instantly. Skills need to be honed to capture the right scale , the right enclosure against the appropriate openness .
Models , become essential tools.
We are producing all our projects and their immediate contexts , topographies , urban or not , at the same scale . In wood and aged brass .
We feel it's a good way to grasp in one view the impact of projects on their sites . We feel this will lead to further insights .
We need to understand ourselves better. Why we do what we do ? Do we repeat ideas ? Does that succeed? Can one project be switched to another site , would it work ? For Better or for worse .. .
We feel , the exercise, eases the conversation in the studio , easy to pull out a couple of models and debate with tangible , ideas built by us .
At this point Spasm , has enough behind us to chart a clear path ahead.
We come from the last Analog generation, though we work with renders , we strongly believe physical models and hand craft is the dearer method to us , personally.
